What are Three Underrated Anime?

‘Underrated’, not valued highly enough. Here’s my random top 3 spoiler-free anime recommendations that I think fit this category!

First Up

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress

Kabaneri had something that you don’t often see combined into one story, especially in anime. It had that Steampunk setting with some zombies thrown in the mix. You might wonder “Well what’s so unique about that?” Listen here, in an era (that still continues) where year after year the same old isekai formula was being thrown out left and right ‘Kabaneri’ was a breath of fresh air. Sadly it didn’t seem to become popular enough to be granted a second season although the first one ended a bit on a rough note. Nonetheless if steampunk, superpowered zombies and cute badass female leads are your thing then this is right up your alley.

DNAngel

Okay so hear me out, this one certainly may not be everyone’s cup of tea. DNAngel was made in a time of life when there was a lot of shoujo anime going around. I don’t mean the comedic or magical girl shoujo we see today but good old romance shoujo where the focus was on some deep drama between usually a boy and a girl crushing on the other… well maybe its still the same. Anyway here’s where DNAngel was different, the main character was a boy. Yes yes theres still the magical and overly teenage romance drama mixed in but this series truly captivated its audience with supernatural mysteries unfolding around each corner all the while some poor boy is just going through puberty. I definitely wouldn’t call it shounen cause it never forced an overly masculine concept (though the MC fine as hell!). If you like the vibes of ‘Detective Conan’ but with a dallop of romance then check it out! For a more in-depth review on this series you can visit BlerdyOtome .

Ergo Proxy

I can not believe how many people might not know this majestic piece of work. The story is set in this futuristic sci-fi city where humans live with these androids in what they believe to be a perfect society but as with all things there’s some weird stuff going on with the androids making them kill humans. Sounds like Irobot I know but the main characters in this series is a young privilege investigator called Re-L who wants to uncover the mysteries behind these events, and Vincent a mysterious character trying to unravel his own memories. Believe me when I say it is not to be slept on, there’s absolutely no romance between the two characters but the art and story is gripping. If you like those really deep sci-fi novels (that you don’t exactly know what the hell is going on but you’re so invested in the world that you can’t put it down) then this is for you.

Once again this only my opinion and there’s so many more underrated anime out there. These are just 3 of my random picks so if you have any you’d like to mention free free to leave a comment and be sure to check out our other posts for more anime titles and other nerdy stuff! Tata~
